Times Square - Theater play
New York. Times Square.
A loft with a breathtaking view of the buildings of Manhattan.
Two worlds colliding: a young actress full of hope and a disenchanted actor...
Grumpy and once-famous actor Matt Donovan has given up on any thoughts of returning to the stage. After a long and brilliant career, he can no longer stand the supporting roles that have been offered to him in recent years. This bitter life, filled with disillusionment and drowned in a (too) large dose of whiskey, turns upside down when Sara Bump, a young waitress and apprentice actress, comes to ask him for help. She auditions for the role of a lifetime in Romeo and Juliet.
Thanks to his poetic and introspective writing style, playwright Clément Koch does not limit himself to a simple lesson on theater in Times Square. It also explores the complexity of human and family relationships. Throughout the play, he takes us with delight behind the scenes of the acting profession and into the emotional and intimate journey of the characters. A funny and touching show, perfectly anchored in the spirit of the times.
