The Thil national necropolis is built on the site of the former annex camp (Kommando) of the Natzwiller-Struthof concentration camp. During World War II, the Nazi regime planned to set up a factory to build V1 rockets in the Tiercelet mine. For this, He had erected a prison camp in the commune of Thil. There could be up to 1500 prisoners locked up to work in the iron mines.
