Wine meets art
As part of our series “Wine meets art” at Domaine Claude Bentz, we are pleased to invite you to a group exhibition presenting the sculptures of Jhemp Bastin, Pit Molling and Iva Mrazkova.
We brought together three artists to facilitate a dialogue between diverse materials and techniques. This corresponds to the contemporary architecture in which the exhibition takes place.
Jhemp Bastin was born in 1963 in Ettelbruck. He lives and works in Bitscht (Büderscheid, L).
“Jhemp Bastin's work embodies the magic and harmony that arise from the tension between man and tree. The artist extracts the formal essence of wood by sculpting it with his tools, playing with the play of solids and voids and highlighting the interiority of the material. His geometrically structured sculptures eloquently highlight the play of perspective and transparency.
Jhemp Bastin's sculptures evoke a strong emotional connection and sensual attraction in the viewer. (based on the original text by Nathalie Becker, translated into English)
Pit Molling was born in 1984 in Luxembourg City. He lives and works in Luxembourg.
“Pit Molling’s work never lacks refinement or character.
The skin of his 3D prints is often reminiscent of finely woven textiles, bringing the modernity of the technique into our own context and our daily lives. These different textures capture the light and give the sculptures great strength and tangible mobility.
The artist does not hesitate to refer to classic modern forms, particularly those of organic sculpture. That’s where the intelligence and interest lies. This is Pit Molling's approach: bringing together natural forms and 3D printing technology in a symbiosis that moves his work between traditional inspiration and modern know-how. » (based on the original text by Nathalie Becker, translated into English)
Iva Mrazkova was born in 1964 in Opava (CZ). She lives and works in Waldbredimus (L).
Iva Mrazkova is a painter and sculptor. Since 2007, she has created small-scale bronze sculptures, using steel and bronze. Monumental sculptures are created in the Ateliers Jean Bichel and since 2022 by John Kieffer.
His work covers an extremely broad spectrum. This applies to the materials she works with as well as the patterns. Space, movement and illusion are themes that she presents in her paintings in as varied and fascinating a way as in her sculptures. There is sometimes an interaction between painting and the work on his sculptures. The sculptures become models for the paintings and vice versa.
