Berlin-based The UNION BLACK (NAVAJO) is a two-piece band project featuring spoken word artist The Ant Dote (also of UK band Djevara) on bass and guitar and Cem on drums. The band plays a (mostly) INSTRUMENTAL form of progressive/psychedelic ALTERNATIVE HARDCORE rock, which is nonetheless influenced by a distinctly Berlin vibe, intertwined with heartbreaking spoken word tracks and off-track segues.

After the death of C19 The first attempt to launch the project just after takeoff, here comes The UNION BLACK bouncing back for Round Two, bloodied and furious, ready to kick ass with an even punchier bag of hard riffs...

The duo creates a massive wall of sound through the combination of Ant's three-amp setup, controlled (roughly) by a garrison of carefully selected pedals, and Cem's powerful, eclectic drumming - groovy, driving, powerful and creative. Together, they produce a heavy soundscape that combines many elements of HARDCORE punk, PROGRESSIVE metal, '90s ALTERNATIVE, and Hendrix-era rock, although more discerning listeners may also discern slight influences from genres as seemingly distant as jazz, house, world (!) and classical.

Intertwined with Ant's laconic and often enigmatic spoken diatribes and offbeat electronic experiments, the result is a thrilling live show of raw energy, both delirious and thought-provoking, inviting mind-bending madness interspersed with dreamy melancholy and pure fury rock, a tour de force created somewhere between the need to produce valid expressive art and the desire to simply let go and experience a dark hedonistic catharsis...
