Jean Bichel and His friends Sculpture is simple, it's just The play between light and shadow Jean Bichel (1935-2022) An essential figure in The cultural life of The municipality of Walferdange. Jean, An artistic ironworker, knew how, through His greatness of soul and His pleasure in practicing His craft, to enrich The cultural environment of His town as well as our country. His achievements in public space surround us daily. Let us cite The monumental Gypsum placed on The roundabout leaving Walferdange towards Mersch, as well as The manufacturing of The corten steel Sculpture Vive l'acier still in Walferdange, by The artist Iva Mrazkova. This piece was exhibited as part of The De Mains De Maîtres Biennale in 2021 in Luxembourg. Jean Bichel worked until 2022 with His blacksmith friends in His workshop in Walferdange. This place was The epicenter of conviviality and great creative encounters. The current exhibition, like The atmosphere of emulation that reigned in The workshop, will allow us to salute His memory and bring His artist friends and His art craftsman friends into dialogue. Jean was not a personality to run around social events and openings but we can bet that This tribute, unfortunately posthumous, would have touched him straight to The heart. Iva Mrazkova, March 2024
