Whispering Sons, MELTS, Tokyo Witch - Les aralunaires
Whispering Sounds
By turns dark, urgent and threatening, the post-punk of the Belgian quintet Whispering Sons immediately fascinates with glacial compositions, bordering on cold wave, served by the serious and charismatic phrasing of singer Fenne Kuppens. Hailed by critics upon the release of their first album in 2018 as the future of post-punk, Whispering Sons did not allow themselves to be locked into the classic vision of the genre, delivering in 2021 a more complex and accomplished second opus, pushing back against musical limits of the group. Whispering Sons has also earned a reputation as an essential band on the European music scene for its hypnotic concerts, bordering on uneasiness.
MELTS
Acclaimed by alternative media like Paste and Stereogum, MELTS are the new turbulent offspring of a booming Dublin rock scene. Big guitars, hypnotic drums and omnipresent synthetic keys: Melts fuses post-punk, krautrock and psyche in sonic whirlwinds with jubilant kaleidoscopic flights, between The Horrors and The Black Angels. Produced by Daniel Fox (Gilla Band), the quintet toured with their friends from Fontaines DC, but also as the opening act for Warmduscher, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Toy.
Tokyo Witch
Tokyo Witch is the solo ambient project of Elena Lacroix (Eosine). From this secret witch's cabin emerge some distant and dark echoes (or beginnings) of the crafted songs of his main group. Whispers about deeply buried sensations and experiences guide these nightmare-marbled guitar and synthesizer dreams. His first album, Skin Like Feathers, was released last December and is completely self-produced, recorded and mixed DIY.
