With the CeCiL's Box, the Cercle Cité supports local creation by presenting and promoting the work of emerging artists and young artists from the Greater Region in one of its windows on rue du Curé. This mini-exhibition space, visible 24/7, day and night, offers a location in the heart of the city to a series of new and ephemeral interventions from the field of plastic and applied arts, in the aim to arouse the curiosity of passers-by and question the collective imagination.
The 32nd intervention is entrusted to the artist Laurianne Bixhain and is entitled What remains is an intermediary thing, repeated.
The images come from shots of the ShadowText performance created by Chloe Chignell and Amina Szecsödy in 2023. They explore the translation and stage value of Monique Wittig's literary texts. The production of images (mask, character, presence on stage, reflection in a mirror, knitting, weaving, photography, etc.) and the transformation of language allow the redistribution of roles and the circulation of power. Creation is a way of shifting reality to where nothing will be what it seems. The process of heroizing female figures – introduced by Wittig (Les Guérillères, 1969) – is a way of reinventing history and producing emancipatory images.
